For five years I worked as a Policeman while we ushered in our infant democracy
Though given a choice I would never have enlisted if it had anything to do with me
But I was glad to serve as we voted
On new-found freedoms over which I had doted
And so being a physical guardian of the process is now permanently etched into my legacy
