Where to begin?

Well, why not with the very first meaningful contribution to a new year of writing. There’s nothing like staying fresh by exercising – since this is a time of new resolutions and new realities – so that’s what I did on New Year’s Day.

I gave myself a timed exercise to:
1 – (30 seconds) Turn to a random page in the “Stoner Coffee Table Book” and come up with a germ of an idea.
2 – (5 minutes) Write an eight-line poem of whatever style.
3 – Repeat.

This is the favourite of my results.
It was inspired by a double page photo of a Romanesco Broccoli.

Fractals just,
Like ages of
Ever-changing stages
Of moth and man
Reveal that
The more a thing changes,
The less
It can.
