Hand and Claw

Hands that give
Hands that take
Claws that rip
For bones that break
One hand up
Three hands down
Can’t seem to find
A way out this town

One hand quick
Two hands late
Being consumed
Seems to be her fate
Hands that build
Hands that break
More hands appear
Her soul to take

Hands that hold
Claws that pull
While hands ignore
The golden rule
Hands that birth
Claws that kill
Always struggling
To find the will

Hands held high
Heart sunk low
Judgemental religion
Strikes blow by blow
Hand in hand
Claw in claw
She can’t tell the difference
Anymore

Her constant companions
Demon and whore
The only ones
Who know her war
Hands reach out
Claws dig in
Slowly the light
Starts flooding in

Hands surrender
Claws can’t win
What is this trust?
New life. Begin!
Hands go soft
Claws go weak
Heart can sing
Its truth to speak

Fingers like feathers
Take to air
New horizons emerge
From up there
Hands at peace
Claws that care
Light and dark
Fill equally everywhere
